If you are a beginner to the program, WorldCast
users may like the Wizard's Step by Step Instructions system that takes users through the main features. The new WorldCast Wizard is a series of panels or pages in a separate window that help a user through a task, commonly known as a "wizard." This new and convenient alternative interface can help simplify its operation.

If you have experience with the Intent and Windows, you might want to take a "hands on" approach and just begin.

  • If you received this version of WorldCast in a self-extracting .exe file (for example, worldcst.exe), please follow the procedures below:
- On Windows 95, 98 or Windows NT 4.0: select Run from the Task bar Start menu, type the full name of the file (for example, C:\myfiles\worldcst.exe), press the Enter key, and follow the prompts.  
 




WorldCast Features


Organizations that send mass mail often face a "dead addresses" problem - sometimes many letters return, accusing the nonexistence of such addresses. This means a lot of traffic was wasted. WorldCast - using direct mailing - detects many of the "dead addresses" at the very beginning of the sending/validating procedure, thus solving the problem.

The validation process works on the same algorithm as ISP mail systems do. Mail server addresses are extracted from domain name servers (DNS). WorldCast
tries to connect with SMTP servers and simulates message sending. It disconnects as soon as the mail server informs if this address is valid or not, without sending the actual message. Since no message will be sent to the recipients, your validation will go unnoticed by them.

Free Unlock Key


After 30 days, the
UNREGISTERED version trial period expires. You should then get a FREE unlock key or register.

To get a FREE unlock key, just go to the help menu and click the Get FREE Unlock Key item. By filling out the requested information (you name, e-mail address, and where you first heard about WorldCast), you will have an unlock key immediately e-mailed to you. The FREE unlock key is valid only for the non-commercial use of WorldCast.

Finally - if problems occur in the future, don't suffer in silence! No version of WorldCast is released until we believe it is 100% bug free, but sometimes issues might arise due to events being timed differently on different machines, or problems with certain graphic cards. Even yet we might have missed a bug that depends on a particular combination of circumstances (Hey, we might even have missed two bugs!). If we don't know about these problems, we can't fix them!

WorldCast Projects


A WorldCast project is a file (extension ".WCT") that contains the whole the data from the emailing list file you are about to create. It contains not only the recipients but also the structure of the project -the message's format, the message body, attached files (if any), a detailed log of all sending/validating connection operations and several options that can be set to define the project.

This is the advantage of WorldCast projects; all project options are saved with the recipient list. In other words, if you have interrupted your e-mail sending for any reason, just save it as a .wct project, reload, and execute it from the point where you stopped. There is no need to set its configuration options again - they are already part of the saved project.

Note: WorldCast also has a
safe recovery feature.





The Main Window


The main window of WorldCast has three major panes, a toolbar and a menu bar.

Data Panel
Contains the e-mail addresses, the message status, the recipient's name, and additional fields imported by the user (such as product name, recipient's country, etc.).
Message Subject
Contains the subject of the message to be sent. Not used in the case of just validating email addresses.

Message Body
Contains the body of the message to be sent. Not used in the case of just validating email addresses.
If the message is formatted as HTML, The "HTML Preview" tab can be used to preview it as HTML..

Tool Bars and Tool Windows


WorldCast has toolbars and tool windows that can be placed anywhere on your screen.

Click on the grip of each tool bar or tool window and drag it to the desired position. If a tool bar or tool window is undocked, a double click on the window caption docks it again into the main window.

The File Menu


New Project
Creates a new empty
WorldCast project.

Open Project
Opens a WorldCast project.

Reopen

Reopens a WorldCast project.

Save Project
Saves the current WorldCast project.

Save Project As

Saves the current WorldCast project under a different file name.

New Recipients
Allows you to manually type your recipient list.

Import | Recipients
Imports your recipient list.

Import | Message
Imports a message

Export | Recipients
Exports your recipient list

Export | Message
Exports a message

Print Message
Prints the message body.

Exit
Choose Exit to close the open project and then close WorldCast.
If you exit WorldCast
before saving your changes, it will ask you if you want to save the changes you've made.





The Edit Menu


From the edit menu, you can perform all well known text operations like cut, copy, paste, and undo.





The Editor Menu


WorldCast comes with a powerful editor. From the editor menu, you can perform the operations related to it.


Properties Configures the editor options.  
 
Spell Settings Spell checker settings.  
 
Spelling Starts the spell checker.  
 
Thesaurus Initiates the Thesaurus.  
 
LiveSpell Checks every word at the same time the user types it.  
 
Goto Line Number Moves the cursor to the specified message line number.  
 







The Message Menu


The Message menu contains options that can configure and fine-tune WorldCast's message sending capabilities.

Attach File

Attaches a files (if any) to be sent along with the message.

Insert Field
Inserts a mail-merge field





The Lists Menu


The Lists menu allows operations over the e-mail lists.


New List
Clears the existing email addresses.

Reset Status
Sets e-mail addresses as "UNSENT" so they can be sent again.

Delete
Deletes the selected e-mails.

Convert to Subscribed
Converts the recipient list to "Subscribed". Only the subscribed elements in the list will receive email or be validated.

Convert to Unsubscribed
Converts the recipient list to "Unsubscribed". The unsubscribed elements in the list will not receive email nor be validated.

Remove Duplicates

Deletes all duplicated emails from list

Syntax Check
Marks as "BAD" all e-mail addresses which do not meet RFC standards.

Smart Fix
Tries to "recover" e-mail addresses marked as "BAD".





The Tools Menu



The Tools menu displays all options needed to configure and fine-tune WorldCast.

Send

Sends e-mails to recipients in list.

Validate
Validates e-mail addresses present in list.

Stop
Stops the current process.

Stats
Shows current project statistics.

Find
Choose Find to display the Find Text dialog box.
Select the Find tab to specify text you want to locate and to set options that can filter the search. Find locates the line of message containing the first occurrence of the desired string, and highlights it. You can also set the Find Text options.

Replace

Choose Search | Replace to display the Replace Text dialog box.
Use this dialog box to specify the text you are looking for, and then replace with other text if you wish.
Most components of the Replace Text dialog box are identical to those in the Find Text dialog box (including its Replace Text options).

Search Again
Choose Search Again to repeat the last Find, or Replace command.

Configuration
Opens the configuration window.





The Help Menu


Use the Help menu to access the online Help system, which is displayed in a special Help window.
The Help system provides information on all aspects of the WorldCast environment.


Contents
Opens the Help Topics dialog. In the dialog, select the Contents tab to see a hierarchical list of topics; the Index tab to view topics listed in alphabetical order, or the Find tab for a full-text search of the Help system.

Wizard
Initiates the wizard.

Tip of The Day
Shows the Tip of the Day window.

Get Free Unlock Key
You are allowed to use WorldCast
for a 30-day (thirty-day) trial period. After that, you should get your FREE unlock key by following the specified procedures. You may also register at anytime.
The FREE unlock key is valid for non-commercial use only.

Enter Unlock Key

Once you have an unlock key, this is the place to type it in.

Wizard Overview


The Wizard is a step-by-step mode to lead you through the steps necessary to create your own mailing project.

It is just necessary to follow the step-by-step directions in order to have the project ready.




Importing a Recipient List


WorldCast is able import recipient lists in the following formats:

Select the File | Import | Recipients menu. This opens the Import Recipients dialog box. This dialog has 2 steps:

Select the field the will contain your recipient's email. Obligatory field.  
 
Select field containing the recipient's name  
Select the field the will contain your recipient's name. Optional, but highly recommended.  
 
First line is  
Used while importing from CSV files. Determines if the data set first line is a header description of the database or if it's part of the data to be imported.  




Entering a Recipient List Manually


If you want to manually type your recipient list,

Select <New Recipients...> from the <File> menu. This opens the New Recipients window.

Now, type an e-mail address and a recipient name of your choice, then press the "add" button to insert it on the list.
To delete any address, select it on the "Recipients" window and click "delete"

Once you are finished, click the "Ok" button. If you want to cancel the operation, click "Cancel".




Editing a Recipient List

To edit a recipient list, you should use the
Data Panel.




Importing Messages


WorldCast is able import messages in text (.txt) format:





Subscribing/Unsubscribing Recipients


WorldCast allows the possibility of keeping unsubscribed elements in the list. Subscribed recipients will receive emails (or be validated), unsubscribed elements won't.

 




E-mail Address Validation - Overview


WorldCast is a very powerful tool for validating every email address from a given mailing list.
You don't need to disturb your clients, friends, etc. anymore to check if their email addresses are still valid. WorldCast connects directly to their SMTP server and checks it for you. Nothing is sent to the recipient in the validation process.

The validation process works on the same algorithm as ISP mail systems do. Mail servers e-mail addresses are extracted from DNS. WorldCast tries to connect with found SMTP-servers and simulates the sending of message. It does not send messages in this routine - WorldCast disconnects as soon as the mail server informs the addresses exist or not.

It helps decrease Intent traffic, because you can clean your mailing list beforehand, avoiding to send undeliverable messages that cause a ping-pong of useless messages between SMTP servers. It also helps you save your Intent resources; in other words, WorldCast
also helps you save money.

Since it's multi-threaded, the validating process is very fast.

WorldCast
is a MUST for discussion list administrators and companies which send catalogues or information to their customers.

Sending Emails - Overview


WorldCast is an email program that quickly and easily delivers a great number of personalized email messages directly to the recipients, without using your ISP Intent SMTP relay server, because WorldCast is a self-sufficient SMTP relay. (Sure, you may use it, if you want to).

Thanks to this feature, WorldCast gives you INSTANT feedback on every message sent. In other words you can, for instance, discard the invalid recipients of your emailing list.

In addition, WorldCast has the following features:

Creating HTML Messages


When you create messages using HTML formatting, only email programs that support HTML can read the formatting. If the recipient's email program does not read HTML, the message is displayed with HTML tags.

To create HTML messages, go to the Tools menu, select Configuration, go to the Format dialog then check HTML as the desired message format.

WorldCast has a powerful syntax-oriented HTML editor and an HTML previewer.

If you want to show images, you will have to refer to images at the Intent, or send them as an attached file.

Creating Text Messages


When you create messages using plain text formatting, any email program can read the formatting.

To create a Text message, go to the Tools menu, select Configuration, go to the Format dialog then check Text as the desired message format.

Mail Merge Overview


WorldCast is a Windows mail merge application. You can send customized email messages to a large number of recipients at the click of a button. The messages can combine standard text with customized information for each recipient. A form letter may merge information from an existing database or from another source of data. WorldCast automatically retrieves the specific information to the fields you specify, then sends a customized e-mail message to each recipient. The application merges all the data records from the data source you specify, or allows you to select any subset of records (manually, or based on a filter).

WorldCast merges any data field in the message, by replacing the tags [field] for the corresponding fields from the recipient list.

Please notice that the term [field]
above actually refers to the field name in the header of the imported data source, shown at the
data panel.

The field names are shown on the header of the recipient list and can be placed in the message by typing the field name enclosed by brackets, or with the menu command Message | InsertField and then choosing the field name, or just right-clicking the mouse over the message editor.

For instance, let's assume the following data source:

After sending/validating emails, it is possible to:

 
 
To do so, just go to the Lists menu and select Delete.

Click None to clear all combo boxes.  
 
Click OK to accept changes, Cancel otherwise.  




Resetting Records


After sending/validating emails, it is possible to resend the emails. The emails marked as "unknown" are the natural choice.

To do so, just go to the Lists menu and select Reset.

The following dialog will show up.

Click All to check all combo boxes.
Click None to clear all combo boxes.

Click OK to accept changes, Cancel otherwise.




Options


General Options
Use the following options to control text handling in the editor. Check the option to enable it.

Auto indentPositions the cursor under the first non blank character of the preceding non blank line when you press Enter  
 
Auto select word on double clickSelects word on double click.  
 
Block cursor for overwriteChanges to a blocky cursor while in overwrite mode.  
 
Cursor beyond EOLPositions the cursor beyond the end-of-file character.  
 
Display line numbers in gutterShows line numbers in gutter.  
 
End key ignores trailing white spacesConfigures the End Key behavior.  
 
Insert mix of tab/spaces...Begins every auto indented line with the minimum number of characters possible, using tabs and spaces as necessary.  
 
Insert tab character... Inserts tab character. If disabled, inserts space characters. If Smart Tab is enabled, this option is off.  
 
Show control charactersShows all chars in text.  
 
Show gutterShows the gutter.  
 
Show right marginShows the right margin.  
 
Show word wrap columnShows the word wrap column.  
Show Wrapped lines...Indicates that lines beginning with certain characters ( >| ) should not be word-wrapped. This is of use in an email system where the original and subsequent replies are of less importance than the new text, therefore should not be wrapped.  
 
Tab to next columnTabs to next column.  
 
Track columns in vertical movementTracks columns.  
 
Triple click select linesTriple click selects an entire line.  
 
Word Wrap linesTurns word wrap on.  
 
Wrap lines when printingWraps line when sending to printer.  
 
Smart tabTabs to the first non blank character in the preceding line. If Use Tab Character is enabled, this option is off.  
 
 
Right margin...Specify the Right margin size.  
Gutter widthSpecify the gutter width.  
Default Tab stop...Specify the number of spaces to a tab stop.  
Tab stop columnsSet the character columns that the cursor will move to, each time you press Tab. If each successive tab stop is not larger than its predecessor, you will receive an error.  
Block indent step sizeSpecify the number of spaces to indent a marked block. The default is 2; the upper limit is 16. If you enter a value greater than 16, you will receive an error.  
Word Wrap columnSpecify the word wrap column.  




Highlighting


Sets the highlighting defaults to the editor.






Key Assignments


Use the Key Assignments dialog box to assign keyboard keys to some editor common tasks, like cut, copy, paste...

To change the assignment:
Select the command you want to change. Then click the "Edit Sequence" button and follow the directions.

To add keys to the assignment:
Select the command you want to change. Then click the "Add New Sequence" button and follow the directions.

To delete an assignment:

Select the command you want to change. Then click the "Delete Sequence" button.

To save and load sequences:
Select "load from file" or "save to file".




Auto Replace


Use the Auto Correct dialog box to configure the editor to correct common typos (i.e. teh for the, ypu for you, etc.)

To add a definition:
Fill the "current selection" fields with the desired words, click "Add definition".
The left side field should be used for the incorrect word (i.e. teh) and the right side for the correct one (i.e. the).
side for the right one (i.e. the).

To delete a definition:
Select in the "Replace/with" box the name of the entry you want to delete. Click "Delete definition".

To save and load definitions:
Select "load from file" or "save to file".




Code Templates


Use the Code Template dialog box to configure Code Template options. Code Template tools are available while you are working in the message editor.
They're are a useful feature if you'd like to add common chunks of codes in the editor, like your personal signature, your postal address, your full name, ...


To add a definition:
Click "add definition" , then fill the "shortcut" and "description" fields. Go to the code window (the memo just below the fields) and write the text that will be entered while the template is selected. Then, in the "Hot key" box, select a Hot key to be assigned to this template.

To edit the shortcut description:

Double click the shortcut you want to edit. Edit the shortcut and description fields as needed. Then, in the "Hot key" box, select a Hot key to be assigned to this template.

To delete a definition:

Select the name of the shortcut you want to delete. Click Delete.

To edit a template:
When a name is selected, the code to be inserted in the file (when the template is selected) is displayed in the code window. Move the cursor to the code window and edit the text as needed.

To save and load definitions:
Select "load from file" or "save to file".




Spell Check


The spell check dialog provides many useful options for easily locating misspelled words and correcting them. Many different configuration options are also available (see
Spell Check Configuration for more details).

The Change All
button will replace all occurrences of the misspelled word with the word in the "Replace With:" edit field, while the Change button replaces only the current occurrence of the misspelled word.

The Ignore All
button will ignore the word thought to be misspelled throughout the rest of the spell check, while the Ignore button will only ignore the current occurrence.

The Add
button adds the word in the "Not Found:" edit field to the user dictionary specified in the Configuration.

The Auto-Correct
button adds the words in the "Not Found" edit field and the "Replace With" edit field to the current user dictionary (specified in the Configuration) as an auto-correct function. Any future occurrence of the presumed misspelled word will then be replaced with the correct spelling automatically. This is useful for common spelling mistakes (i.e. recieve for receive, and teh for the).

The Suggest
button will, if possible, add additional word alternatives to the suggestions list.

The Start
button is used to restart a spell check session from the current cursor position if the spell check window lost focus in favor of another window in the current application. This gives freedom of movement, allowing you to edit the document being checked without ending the current spell check session.

The Undo Last
button restores the last spell check action performed and reselects the previous misspelled word (if possible). This button can be pressed multiple times to undo multiple operations.

The Options
button shows a window allowing you to set spell check configuration options





Spell Check Configuration - Dictionaries


This tab of the configuration window controls which main dictionaries and user dictionaries are active during the spell check. See the
options tab for more configuration options.

In both main and user dictionary lists the check box to the left of the item indicates whether or not a specific dictionary is active. To change the active status, simply click on the check box.

To add an already existing dictionary to the list, click on the Add
button. When adding a preexisting user dictionary, Microsoft Word user dictionaries (.DIC file extension) may also be used. To delete a dictionary already in the list, click on the Remove button.

To form a new user dictionary, click on the New
button.

The "Add Words To" selection box lets you specify which user dictionary new words and auto-corrections are to be added to. This must be an active user dictionary (not a Microsoft Word user dictionary).

The OK
button saves the current configuration and closes the configuration window.

The Cancel
button aborts any changes made to the configuration and closes the configuration window.

Spell Check Configuration - Options


This tab (of the configuration window) controls specific configuration options related to the spell check. See the
dictionaries tab for more configuration options.

Ignore Options:

The "Words in UPPERCASE" check box, when checked, forces the spelling checker to skip any words in uppercase. This can be useful for ignoring acronyms.

The "Words Containing Numbers
" check box, when checked, forces the spelling checker to skip any words that may contain one or more numeric characters. This can be useful for ignoring license plates and other partially numeric words. This can also be somewhat detrimental if a numeric key was pressed instead of a character by mistake.

The "HTML Tags
" check box, when checked, forces the spelling checker to skip any HTML tags encountered (i.e. text between opening and closing angle brackets).

The "URLs and E-mail Addresses
" check box, when checked, forces the spelling checker to skip any email addresses or world wide web addresses found in the document.

The Reset Ignore All
button removes any words previously added to the "Ignore All" list. Words previously in the list will no longer be ignored when encountered.

The Reset Change All
button removes any word sequences added to the "Change All" list. Words added to the "Change All" list will no longer be automatically replaced.

Suggest Options:

The "Generate Automatically
" check box, when checked, forces the spelling checker to make suggestions for replacement of a word as soon as a misspelled word is located. If this option is not checked, no suggestions are given initially.

The "From Primary Dictionary Only
" check box, when checked, forces all suggestions to be constructed from the primary dictionary only. If the option is not checked, then suggestions are generated from each main dictionary. The primary dictionary is the first dictionary in the main dictionaries list


General Options:

The "Re-check Replaced Words
" check box, when checked, forces the spell checker to re-check words that it has replaced as a result of a "change" or "change all" operation. This is a useful feature for counteracting the occasional spelling mistakes that may occur when typing.




The OK
button saves the current configuration and closes the configuration window.

The Cancel
button aborts any changes made to the configuration and closes the configuration window.






Dictionary Options


Word Not Found

This field simply displays the word that is currently thought to be misspelled.

Replace With Word

In this edit field, you may type replacements to the supposedly misspelled words. To change this field, simply click on a word suggestion in the suggestions list, or edit the field itself.

Suggestions List

This list generally contains several correctly spelled words, each thought to be a possible replacement to the misspelled word. To select one of the replacement words, simply click on that word. Double clicking on a word will replace current and future instances of the misspelled word with the chosen replacement word (Change All).

Suggest Button

If suggestions are not generated automatically (a configuration option), pressing this button will initially add suggestions to the misspelled word in the suggestions list. From this point on, the suggest button will generate more suggestions to the currently selected word in the suggestions list.

Start Button

This button is used to restart a spell check session from the current cursor position of the document being checked (if the spell check window lost focus in favor of another window in the current application). This gives freedom of movement, allowing the editing of documents being checked, without ending the current spell check session.

Undo Last Button


This button will restore the last spell check action performed and reselect the previous misspelled word (if possible). This button can be pressed multiple times to undo multiple operations.

Options Button


This button will show a window allowing you to set which main and user dictionaries are active, as well as several other configuration options.

Change All Button

This button replaces current and future instances of the misspelled word with the word in the "Replace With" edit field.

Change Button

The button replaces only the current instance of the misspelled word with the word in the "Replace With" edit field. Any successive instances of the misspelled word will not be replaced.

Ignore All Button


This button will force the spell checker to ignore all future instances of the misspelled word in the current spell check session. Future sessions will not ignore the word.

Ignore Button


This button will force the spell checker to ignore the current instance of the misspelled word. Future instances will not be ignored.

Add Button

This button adds the word thought to be misspelled to the currently active user dictionary (specified in the configuration). Any future occurrences of the word will be ignored - provided that the user dictionary (the word was added to) is active.

Auto-Correct Button

This button adds an auto-correction pair to the active user dictionary (specified in the configuration). This will force current and any future occurrences of the misspelled word to be replaced with the specified word.

Cancel Button


This button closes the spell check window and ends the current spell check session.

Up and Down Buttons

These buttons move the selected main dictionary up and down in the main dictionary list, in order to establish hierarchic importance to the dictionaries list. This is important for several reasons. The main dictionary that is first in the list is considered the primary dictionary. The order of dictionaries in the list is also the order which they are searched, so the most frequently used language should be first in the list.

Main Dictionary List

This list shows the main dictionaries that are known to the system. The check box to the left of the item indicates whether or not a specific dictionary is active. To change the active status, simply click on this check box. The main dictionary that is first in the list is considered the primary dictionary. The order of dictionaries in the list is also the in order which they are searched; in other words, the most frequently used language should be first in the list.

Add Button

This button presents an open dialog for adding an existing main dictionary to the main dictionary list.

Remove Button

This button removes the currently selected main dictionary from the main dictionary list. It is not removed from the computer; just from the available dictionaries list.

Up and Down Buttons

These buttons move the selected user dictionary up and down in the main dictionary list. The order of dictionaries in the list is also the order which they are searched; in other words, the most frequently used user dictionary should be first in the list and so forth.

User Dictionary List


This list shows the user dictionaries that are known to the system. The check box to the left of the item indicates whether or not a specific dictionary is active. To change the active status, simply click on this check box. The order of dictionaries in the list is also the order which they are searched, so the most frequently used user dictionary should be first in the list.

Add Button

This button presents an open dialog for adding an existing user dictionary to the user dictionary list. When adding a preexisting user dictionary, Microsoft Word user dictionaries (.DIC file extension) may also be used.

Remove Button

This button removes the selected user dictionary from the user dictionary list.

Add Words To:

This selection box lets you specify to which user dictionary new words and auto-corrections are to be added to. This must be an active user dictionary and cannot be a Microsoft Word user dictionary.

Ignore Upper Case Option

This option forces the spell checker to ignore all words that are fully upper case.

Ignore Partial Numbers Option

This option forces the spell checker to ignore words that have embedded numeric characters (in addition to alphabet characters).

Generate Suggestions Automatically Option

This option forces the spelling checker to make suggestions for replacement of a word as soon as a misspelled word is located. If this option is not checked, no suggestions are given initially.

Primary Dictionary Only Option

This option forces all suggestions to be constructed from the primary dictionary only. If the option is not checked, then suggestions are generated from each main dictionary. The primary dictionary is the first dictionary in the main dictionary list.

Re-check Replaced Words Option

This option forces the spelling checker to re-check words that it has replaced as a result of a change, or change the whole operation.

OK Button

This button saves the current configuration and closes the configuration window.

Cancel Button

This button aborts any changes made to the current configuration and closes the configuration window.

New Button


This button adds a new user dictionary to the user dictionary list.

Reset Ignore All Button

This button clears the list of words the spell checker is ignoring for the current session.

Reset Change All Button

This button clears the list of words that the spell checker is automatically changing in the current session.

Ignore HTML Tags

This option will force the spelling checker to ignore any text found within HTML tags encountered during the parsing.

Ignore URLs and E-mail Addresses

This option forces the spelling checker to ignore common Intent strings, such as URLs and email addresses.






Thesaurus


WorldCast
comes with a compiled version of Roget's 1911 Public Domain Thesaurus. It is extremely large, containing over 1000 context topics and 30,000 words.






Configuration Overview


The configuration menu presents all options needed to configure and fine-tune WorldCast.



Note: Most of the configuration process is easily handled by using the Wizard's help.





Connection


Use the Connection page of the Configuration dialog box to select the connection properties of your project message.

Option            Effect


Simultaneous ConnectionsThe number of simultaneous connections (threads) to this project should be increased in order to have gain speed. However, it depends on the connection speed. A good number of connections is 16 for a 36 Kbps modem connection. The UNREGISTERED and the UNLOCKED versions are limited to 3 (three) simultaneous connections.  
 
Timeout (minutes)Number of minutes a connection should "wait" before aborting a connection. Increase it to have more accurate results; decrease it to less accurate results. It's good to increase the timeout in the case you have more than 16 connections.

Sender


Use the Sender page of the Configuration dialog box to select the sender properties of your project message.

Option         Effect


NameSender's name. This is the name the recipient will actually see as the sender of the message he has received.  
 
EmailSender's Email. This is the email the recipient will actually see as the sender of the message he has received. Special care should be taken while setting this option, specially if this email is banned. Many SMTP servers will refuse to received email from a banned sender. Some SMTP, after receiving many e-mails from a single sender, may automatically block the sender (because it will recognize this sender as a spammer). One way of avoiding this is to make use of a special WorldCast feature, which alters the sender's e-mail so it never looks the same to SMTP servers. It works by adding random chars to the sender's e-mail (e.g. By adding a question mark anywhere within your e-mail, such as ?myname@myserver.com, myname?@myserver.com, my?name@myserver.com, etc.). Each question mark will be replaced by a random char. In other words, each recipient will receive a different "sender email" and the SMTP server won't be able to filter it.  
 
Reply AddressThis is the email address that will be used when the recipient replies to the message. If left blank, the Email field will be used.

Format


Use the Format page of the Configuration dialog box to select the format of your project message.

OptionEffect  

 
Message formatThe desired message format: HTML or Plain Text. Not used when validating email addresses.  
CharsetThe desired message charset. It should be changed to the recipient's charset. Not used when validating email addresses.  
Encode text usingThe MIME encoding applied to the message:  
  • None (8-bit) - No encoding is applied to the message.
  • 7-bit - Only ASCII chars (0..127) are sent
  • Quoted-Printable - The message is encoded so that all ASCII and NON-ASCII chars can be sent as 7-bit chars.
Message importanceThe desired message importance. Not used when validating email addresses.  
Automatically wrap atSet the line length of messages. Not used when validating email addresses.

Servers


Use the Servers page of the Configuration dialog box to select the Server properties for your project.

Servers

Select the relaying type you want. There are
drawbacks and advantages to both.


OptionEffect  

 
Use DNSEnables the Direct multi-threaded delivery. Must be the choice on validating projects.  
Use SMTPUses an SMTP Server to deliver messages. Cannot be used on validating operations.  
 
 

 
DNS ServerYour ISP's DNS server IP number. Ask your ISP's support about it, if you are unsure, or click the "Detect" button.  
DetectTries to auto-detect the DNS Server. It's necessary to be connected to the Intent prior to clicking it.  
Safe modeEnables the Safe mode relaying.  
 

 
SMTP ServerYour SMTP Server. The same used to configure the your email client. Normally something like: smtp.mydomain.com , mydomain.com , mail.mydomain.com , etc. Ask your ISP if you are not sure.  
If your server needs authentication, fill the corresponding account name and password.

Copies


Use the Copies page of the Configuration dialog box to select the properties of redundant messages for your project.

Select the "carbon copy" style you want.

One message/recipientEach individual message will be delivered to only one recipient, allowing customization of each message. Must be the choice on mail-merge projects.  
 
One message/many recipientsEach individual message will be delivered to many recipients. Since the message will be the same to each recipient, this option does not allow customization of individual messages. Cannot be the choice on mail-merge projects. This option allows the greatest speed on relaying.  
 
RecipientsSets the number of recipients each individual message will be relayed to if the "One message/many recipients" option is checked  
 
 
 
 

 
Default emailThe email address seen by the recipient as being himself. (i.e. "recipient@mymailinglist.com", for instance)  
 
Default recipientThe name address seen by the recipient as being himself. (i.e. "Subscribers of Fairlogic Mailing list", for instance)

WorldCast Data Panel Properties


The data panel is the place where the project recipient data will be shown. It can be used for sorting purposes.

Customizing


To sort the data by any field
Just click the desired column, once for ascending and twice for descending.

To customize the appearance of the Data Panel
Just drag any column to any position on the grid and drop it.

To Change data on the Data Panel
Just click over the desired data column and change it.

To Resize the column width
Just drag the column delimiter to the desired size.



Editing Data


To edit a single field, just click over it and alter the data the way you want.


Operations


Just right click the desired record you want to operate. A popup menu will show:

Insert
Inserts a new empty row.

Delete
Deletes an entire row.

View Log
Shows the record log file, if there is one.









Overview


WorldCast can retrieve messages from pop accounts and process them. Once you set the "reply-to" address of some WorldCast mailing to your pop account, WorldCast will be able to:

  • Include the sender into the mailing;
  • Remove the sender from the mailing;
  • Unsubscribe the sender from the mailing;
  • Subscribe the sender from the mailing;
  • Mark the address in WorldCast database as Bad, Good or Unsent;
  • Remove the sender's email.
 
You process the messages by creating rules:  
 
  • If the message has specific words in the "from" box;
  • If the message has specific words in the "to" box;
  • If the message has specific words in the "cc" box;
  • If the message has specific words in the "to" or "cc" box;
  • If the message has specific words in the recipient's address;
  • If the message has specific words in the sender's address;
  • If the message has specific words in the subject;
  • If the message has specific words in the body;
  • If the message has specific words in the subject or body;
  • If the message has specific words in the message header;
  • Returned mail: User unknown;
  • Returned mail: Mailbox full;
  • Delivery time expired;
  • Warning message;
  • Apply to all messages;
  • Apply if no previous conditions were satisfied;
 
 
 




Creating a New Pop Account


  • Make sure you have an opened project (with data on it)
  • Click the Account | Rules menu
  • Make sure you have an opened project, with data on it
  • Click the Account|Rules menu
  • Click the Configuration tab
  • Click the new.gif new account button
  • Fill the Description field with some meaningful description to the pop account (i.e. My Account)
  • Fill the Pop3 Server field with your pop3 server name. (ask your ISP about it)
  • Fill the account name with your account name (If your email address is me@myaccount.com, your account name will usually be "me")
  • Fill the Password field with your account password
  • Click the save.gif save button




Saving the Pop Account


  • To save any modifications, just click the save.gif save button




Deleting a Pop Account


To delete a Pop Account:

Click over the Pop Account to be deleted in the left panel
Click the delete.gif delete button




Creating Rules


To create a rule to be applied on the selected pop account,

  • Make sure you have an opened project (with data on it)
  • Click the Account | Rules menu
  • Make sure you have an opened project, with data on it
  • Click the Account|Rules menu
  • In the Pop Accounts list box, select a pop account
  • Click the rules tab
  • In the edit box under the rules list box, type in the name of the rule
  • Click the + button
 
Note: The rules are applied following the order they are created. If you want to change their places, use the up.gif and down.gif buttons.  
 




Deleting Rules


To delete a rule,

  • Select the rule to be deleted
  • Click the delete.gif button.




Making a Rule Active / Inactive


  • To make a rule active, just check the check box on its left. Uncheck it to make it inactive.




Adding Conditions to Rules


To add conditions to a rule,

  • Make sure you have a selected rule
  • Check the condition(s) you want to make active (just check the check box on its left)
 
To each condition you have checked, fill the corresponding edit box right below, with the words you want to apply to applied to the checked condition. E.g. "with specific words in the subject" as the condition, and the word SUBSCRIBE in the edit box. If your action were "Subscribe Sender", the WorldCast would automatically subscribe all users which sent a message in which the subject contained the word SUBSCRIBE.  




Adding Actions to Rules

To add conditions to a rule,

  • Make sure you have a rule selected
  • Check the action(s) you want to make active (just check the box on its left)




Processing Accounts


  • To Process the rules assigned to the particular account, just go to the Accounts | Process menu and choose the Pop Account to be processed. Choose all to process all accounts.




Is WorldCast Multithreaded?

Yes, the process is Multi-Threaded: In the tools|Configuration|Simultaneous connections menu you can configure the number of threads. Note that Win9x has an internal limit of 64 threads, and the unregistered version will only let you use up to 3 connections.
Since it's multi-threaded, there are no reasons to use 2 copies of it, since they will be wasting the same resources (windows connections).





Using the "to", "cc" and "bcc" to customize messages

Do World Case personalize the message, i.e. it uses the 'To' field in message to send the mail or it uses 'Cc' or 'Bcc' field like some other Bulk Mailers ?

WorldCast uses the "To" field to send customized emails. If you do not need customization, you can use the 'bcc' option in the Tools|Configurations|Copies|One message/many recipients menu.
